The organization was established in Nigeria on October 1, 1960, as the Holy Sabbath of Christ the King Mission (HSCKM). This date corresponded with the Jewish year 5721, 10 Tishrei—Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). Its founding was attributed to divine inspiration through God’s servant, Michael Nwobi Amakaeze, who served as Kohen Gadol and General Overseer until his passing on December 30, 1995.
Leadership subsequently transitioned to Chidi Enyinnaya Amakaeze, who continues to oversee the affairs of the Community.
In 1995, the Community of HASHEM gathered all Sabbath observers in Nigeria in an Ecumenical Convention at Owerri, which was attended and addressed by the then Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria, His Excellency Gadi Golan. The Community also hosted other ambassadors from Israel, including His Excellency, Arie Avidor in the year 2002; His Excellency, Noam Katz, who was at the dedication of our National Synagogue in Abuja, Nigeria in 2003. Again, in the year 2009, the Israeli Ambassador, His Excellency, Moshe Ram, and the Israeli Embassy were well represented at our Theological Academy’s first Convocation ceremony, which was held in Enugu.
As at today, the Community of HASHEM Worldwide boasts of more than 250 Synagogues in Nigeria alone, in addition to other Synagogues planted and dedicated in many African countries, including Ghana, Cameroon, The Gambia, Gabon, Ivory Coast, to mention but a few. Overseas, London and some cities, and states in the United States of America: California, Maryland, and Texas, are some of the cities, states, and countries to have received the covenant message. This is largely due to our members, who immigrated to those countries as mentioned.
